The Story Behind Our Knotted Family Collection

Handmade. Meaningful. One of a Kind.

Because family isn't about being identical.  It's about being connected.

At AJD Mercantile, we believe some of the most meaningful pieces in a home aren't just decorations. They're the ones that tell a story.

That's exactly what inspired our Knotted Family Collection, a handcrafted wooden keepsake designed to celebrate the people (and pets!) who make your family yours.

A Little Wood, Some Rope and a Whole Lot of Meaning

Sometimes the simplest designs carry the biggest messages.

Each Knotted Family begins with individually handcrafted walnut figures, thoughtfully arranged on a natural live-edge wood base. Rustic rope arms connect each family member, creating a simple but beautiful reminder of the bonds we share.

The knots represent connection, love, and the ties that hold us together through every season of life.

And just like real families, no two pieces are exactly alike.

The natural grain, colors, and character of the wood make every creation unique.

Your Family, Your Way

We know families come in all shapes and sizes, and we wanted this collection to reflect that.

Maybe your family is just the two of you.  Maybe it's a house full of kids. Maybe your four-legged family members run the show!

Whatever your family looks like, there's a place for everyone.

With our Build Your Own Knotted Family option, you can customize your keepsake by choosing:

• Adults — $10 each
• Children — $5 each
• Pets — $5 each

Each family is arranged together on a natural wood base, creating a personalized piece that represents your own special crew.

Handcrafted With Purpose

One of the things we love most about woodworking is finding beauty in the natural character of each piece of wood.

At AJD Mercantile, we try to make the most of our materials, including smaller pieces that might otherwise go unused.

The Knotted Family Collection is a wonderful example of how those pieces can become something meaningful.

Every figurine is individually crafted, and every base has its own unique grain and character.

It's rustic, simple, and intentionally imperfect. Just like the beautiful, messy, wonderful thing we call family.

More Than Just Home Decor

We can think of so many occasions where a Knotted Family would make a thoughtful gift.

A housewarming gift for someone starting a new chapter. A wedding or anniversary keepsake. A gift for grandparents celebrating their growing family. A meaningful reminder of the people who make a house feel like home.

Or maybe it's simply something special for yourself.

Because sometimes the best gifts aren't the biggest or most expensive. They're the ones that mean something.
